Attorneys, legal representatives, petitioners, applicants, and supporters can create a myUSCIS account to track the status of applications/petitions, file certain forms online, submit information and documentation directly to USCIS, schedule some appointments, and access resources. A popular use for a myUSCIS account is to file the Form AR-11, Alien’s Change of Address Card, online. This form was previously available to complete and submit online independent of the myUSCIS platform, but it is now only available electronically with an account. Individuals still have the option of mailing a paper form to USCIS. Information about the form can be found at https://www.uscis.gov/ar-11

In addition to filing from AR-11 to update a home address, immigrants and nonimmigrants can reschedule a biometrics (fingerprinting) appointment, access resources to correct a typographic error on a USCIS receipt/approval notice, find an approved doctor (“Civil Surgeon”) to perform a medical examination for the Form I-693, and learn about the naturalization process. Perhaps the most exciting feature of myUSCIS is that applications/petitions can be completed, filed, and paid for online. Unfortunately, this option is only available for specific forms. To see a complete list of the forms currently accepted for online filing, see https://www.uscis.gov/file-online/forms-available-to-file-online

Use your myUSCIS to update your address within 10 days of your move to ensure you receive mailed communication from USCIS.

Per USCIS, myUSCIS accounts may not be shared with family or friends. This means even minors must have their own accounts. To create an account, visit https://my.uscis.gov/#. The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes and requires a secure email address to which you will have indefinite access.

A note for H-1B beneficiaries: The H-1B petition (form I-129) is filed by the sponsoring employer on your behalf. It is the employer's petition, not yours. This means you may not be able to add the filed H-1B petition to your individual myUSCIS account for tracking and management. Instead, you may need to visit https://egov.uscis.gov/ and enter the I-797 receipt number for instant updates on the case.
